dreamy

After weeks of being on the outside looking in, now I'm in. I'm not sure what will go here. I'll likely be transferring over my yoga sadhana notes and possibly moving my main journalling activity over here.

We'll see.

summer sadhana day #5

Getting to bed at four-ish and getting up at ten-ish is taking a toll on my energy levels. I'm trying not to nap today, which should help smooth things out. In theory. But a lack of energy translates into a lack of motivation, so I have to use extraordinary methods to convince myself to keep moving. Today's extraordinary method: hunger. Since I knew I wasn't going to be able to practice yoga between lunch and dinner and my late-night yoga track record is not so great, the only way I was going to be able to squeeze anything in today was to implement a firm "no lunch without yoga" rule. And what do you know, it worked.

Today's practice:
Kundalini Yoga for Beginners and Beyond: Rise & Spine set (basic spinal series and meditation), with Ravi Singh and Ana Brett, 40 minutes.

I made the spinal flexions slow and luscious. I put my energy into the washing machine and the propeller exercises. And while my sat kriya was sadly lacking and my tolerance for breathplay nonexistent, my meditation was as mindful as I could make it. Which is to say that while I had to keep steering my mind back to the task at hand, it steered quickly and tended to stay put for at least a few seconds before wandering off again. I love the meditation sequence on this DVD because I can always feel my third eye humming afterwards.
