what time is it?

Thanks to a bunch of enablers on one of the perfume boards I now obsessively read, I discovered Deep Midnight. Who are awesome.
Boudica. I have had bad experiences with leather going either weird and rubbery on me, or amping beyond all reasonability, so I was a little trepidatious when I sniffed the little vial and all I got was leather. On my skin, that quickly transformed into LEATHER!!! But then something unusual happened: the leather faded a bit, just enough to leave room for roast grains, honeyed sweetness, faint flowers, and the hint of a campfire to seep through. And it was good. It was all good. As it faded, it clung tighter to my skin and grew even more alluring. Unexpected and awesome. This may turn into something I can't live without.
Bourbon Street. Oddly, the musk did not amp itself on me. This was mostly vanilla with a hint of rum and musk. Extremely delicious.
Mad as a Hatter. Bitter chocolate and sweet tobacco, curling contentedly around each other.
Samhain Night. On me, this is a sophisticated melange of notes so perfectly blended that it's almost impossible to pick them out individually. The key word is 'sophisticated'. This is definitely a special-occasion fragrance for me.
The Devil You Know. Sweet tobacco, salt and dragon's blood. This scent is dark and sinister and somewhat evil, and very not me - but I didn't order it for me, I ordered it for my gaming alter ego, Mina Kopitar, a woman who could easily be described as sinister and somewhat evil. And this suits her to a tee. I may very well be in big bottle territory here; it's gonna be a long campaign.
Vampyre's Kiss. Musk, patchouli and black cherry were a combination that looked brilliant in theory and smelled great in the bottle. In practice, it somehow transformed into something resembling cherry Old Spice. I blame my chemistry. I'm pretty sure it's not the black cherry note that dislikes me, and musk and patchouli are usually my best friends, so I'm not sure what went wrong for me here.
Wee Green Fae stared out as a promising vanilla/musk blend with just a tidge of absinthe for flavouring, but the absinthe was quickly buried beneath my body chemistry's tendency to amp vanillas and musks. After about three hours, the musk and vanilla backed off enough to allow the absinthe a chance to shine, and it ended as a very well-balanced scent, indeed. Pretty, light, and great for warm summer evenings.
